Mothers Against Mitt Romney09.30.11

American moms know what their kids are up against. They are soon going to be entering a job market that’s been decimated by a wrecked economy.

oval anti-romney bumper stickerMothers also are famous for their long memories. They remember when the recession started – and it wasn’t under Barack Obama. It was the Republicans and their coddling of Wall Street speculators that caused the current economic crisis.

Mitt Romney wants to make it worse, by cutting programs our children need in these difficult times – education programs, family nutrition program, community support agencies. All would suffer under Mitt Romney’s axe.

Is it any wonder that we’re seeing the rise of Mothers Against Mitt Romney as a force in the 2012 presidential election?

Citizens of Detroit for Obama 201209.21.11

The people of Detroit will never forget that it was Barack Obama who brought their city back from the brink of complete collapse during the recession that was caused by the fiscal irresponsibility of George W. Bush and his Republican supporters. That’s why there’s an active Detroit 4 Obama twitter community, keeping up a grassroots effort to re-elect Obama to the White House in 2012.

pro-obama campaign buttonMembers of the group warn Republicans, “Trying to trash the economy just so you can make Obama look bad is about as anti-American as you can get.” They ask, rhetorically, “When #TeaParty said they wanted to ‘Take America Back’, who knew they meant back to the Great Depression?”

No one doubts now that 2012 is going to be an extremely tough presidential election. The Republicans are bringing out all their most powerful political weapons to bear against President Obama – and they’ve got Wall Street fat cats and corporations paying the bills of their smear campaigns.

We the people can still make a difference. If you don’t want to see another Republican like Bush in the White House in 2013, now is the time to get involved. A good first step is to make the simple display of a Detroit for Obama 2012 campaign button.

Rick Perry Is The Mad Cow Of American Politics09.04.11

One of the less remembered disasters in the history of Rick Perry as Governor of Texas was the time, five years ago, when Governor Perry organized a collection of cattle ranchers to sue Oprah Winfrey for broadcasting a television program that dared to point out that eating beef is linked to a variety of human health problems. Among the more disconcerting problems with cattle at that point was mad cow disease.

He’s stumbling around, foaming at the mouth with semi-coherent statements about how the Earth isn’t as old as it seems to be, rambling about a secret international conspiracy of scientists to make Texas oilmen look stupid, and the like.

Rick Perry’s followers seem to be exhibiting symptoms of mad cow disease as well, falling to their knees, swooning listlessly in front of Perry’s image, unable to restore their mental coherence.

The political button you see here captures this mad cow meme for Rick Perry quite well, making the point that Rick Perry is like political mad cow disease.
