A graduate of Oral Roberts University, founded by the televangelist who said that he would be killed by God if his followers didn’t give him a million dollars right away, Michele Bachmann is a radical evangelist’s dream president candidate – and a secular American’s nightmare.

Bachmann has joined in with theocratic political rallies declaring that “only the supernatural hand of god can save America”.

Bachmann tries to use the power of the military to push Christianity on soldiers.

Bachmann has, over and over again, tried to force public school biology teachers to teach Creationism junk science.

Michele Bachmann is betting that all these radical theocratic positions will earn her the support of a powerful assembly of radical Christian voters. What she’s not counting on is that the number of secular Americans, people turned off by radical religion, is growing.

It’s time for us secular Americans to join together to fight the theocratic menace embodied in Michele Bachmann. In 2012, let Bachmann learn that the organizing power of secular America is a force to be reckoned with.

A couple of years ago, student Joe Kane wrote of Minnesota politician Michele Bachmann‘s animosity toward college students:

“Her votes — all public record on Web sites like Vote Smart — offer insight to her consistent position against college students. Her votes against college students include bills which raise Pell grant limits (HR 4137) lower student loan interest rates (HR 5) and a longer deferment option for military students (HR 2669). Michelle Bachmann’s congressional Web site, and a list of all of her public record statements and speeches make no mention of helping out college students who continue to face rising tuition and student debt or, frankly, anything relating to assisting students.”

Bachmann’s record shows that she isn’t just opposed to education in her own individual case – she’s also against the mechanisms that we have established as a society that take our most talented young minds and refine their abilities. Bachmann has worked to defund educational institutions and to disrespect scientific understanding of the world around us.

Now, Bachmann isn’t just a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Bachmann is formally announcing the launch of her presidential campaign tomorrow. That’s why now is the time for Students Against Bachmann to step forward and do their part to stop the Minnesota politician from damaging American education more than she already has.

The Louisville Courier Journal refers to Michele Bachmann as the political equivalent of “a truck of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil”. Another Kentuckian comments, “Bachmann’s continued presence is pure napalm to Republican chances of resecuring the White House in 2012.” Explosion seems to be a theme of Bachmann’s politics.

Kentucky is wary of Bachmann’s plans to run for President, and not just because some libertarians would prefer Kentucky’s senator Rand Paul to run for President. Michele Bachmann represents a form of politics that isn’t just ignorant and ill advised and ignorant. Bachmann’s language and legislation is downright nasty, seeking to take constitutional rights away from entire groups of Americans, just because Bachmann doesn’t happen to approve of them.

Has Bachmann ever heard of a little old motto we have here in the USA – E Pluribus Unum? It means that we’re one nation, but made up of many people who have difference cultures and ways of living. We have a Constitution that guarantees equality in spite of diversity. That’s an ideal that Michele Bachmann can’t fathom.

Kentuckians get it, though. That’s why, whether she’s running for President or staying as a troublemaker in Congress, Kentucky is against Michele Bachmann.
